Shipping Clerk

Reports to: Logistics Coordinator
Department: Logistics
Schedule: Full-time position (40 hours per week)
Location: 110 Jacques-Bibeau Street, Rouyn-Noranda, QC J9Y 0A3

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Ship manufactured and distributed products to customers | 80%

  • Gather the parts to be shipped according to the customer’s purchase order.
  • Pack, seal and label merchandise for shipment.
  • Wrap and secure shipping pallets.
  • Perform a final double-check of packaged products and products loaded onto flatbed trailers before delivery.
  • Assist the Logistics Coordinator with the weight and dimensions of items to be delivered, as well as transportation planning.
  • Communicate with carrier representatives, as needed, to make arrangements and provide shipping or delivery instructions.

Complete local deliveries and errands | 10%

Help maintain a healthy and safe work environment | 5%

  • Wear the required personal protective equipment in accordance with MBI’s standards and prevention programs.
  • Participate in developing and implementing health and safety policies, standards and procedures related to product handling, and ensure compliance with applicable transportation regulations.
  • Ensure that shipping and receiving areas are kept clean and in good condition.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with product storage and transportation.
  • Notify the immediate supervisor of any damaged equipment or materials, as well as any potential accident risks.

Contribute to the development of their own skills and those of other employees | 5%

  • Provide support by applying their knowledge and skills.
  • Suggest improvements to logistics operations.
  • Attend staff meetings as required.
  • Respond to questions and requests from company employees on various topics.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma.
  • One to three years of experience in a shipping and receiving role is considered an asset.
  • Forklift operator certification is considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of an ERP system, such as SAP, is considered an asset.

Languages

  • Functional proficiency in French, both spoken and written.
  • Functional proficiency in English is considered an asset.
